Crickhowell Tennis Club junior members Ben and Phoebe Cuthbertson-Smith came away with top prizes in a recent regional tennis tournament held at the Newport Tennis Centre.

In the final, a three-tie-break match, each to ten points, Ben fought back from one tie-break down to clinch a tournament win with a nail-biting 10-8 win in the final against a well-matched opponent.

His sister, Phoebe, playing in her first under-8 mini-red tournament, came away with a fine 3rd place in a competition attracting 8 players, winning all her group matches before losing in a close semi-final.

In a recent regional club competition, Crickhowell’s mini-orange team of Ben and Phoebe Cuthbertson-Smith, Arthur Price and Heather Francis won a local tournament against teams from Abergavenny, Cwmbran and Usk to make it through to a regional South Wales competition, where they finished a very creditable fourth place against teams from Cardiff and Newport.
